Hula, the sacred dance of Hawaii was described
by King David Kalakaua as the language of the heart and therefore
the heartbeat of the Hawaiian people.
There are two basic classifications of hula: auwana
and kahiko. Auwana is the modern form
of hula and Kahiko is the ancient or
old form.
These hula classes teach the footwork of hula,
hand motions, mythology and Hawaiian values.
Kaililani teaches these hula
classes in Chicago at the Zen Community of Oak Park and once a month in New York.
